The Edward Francis Piano Resource Collection at CSUN is a one-of-a-kind library of scholarly piano scores, books and pedagogical materials located in Cypress Hall Room 239. This incredible collection is based on Edward Francis’ private library, which was posthumously donated by his family to perpetuate his legacy in the CSUN Piano Department. The purpose of this unique collection is to serve the CSUN piano area as a valuable resource for use by both piano students and faculty.
The materials are available to the students at all times and serve as a pedagogical tool for students in classes, such as piano pedagogy, keyboard literature, and master classes, among others. In order to build upon Edward’s legacy, we ask for your support in order to provide continuing development of the collection – adding new materials, supporting student and faculty activities related to the library, and offering a work study scholarship for a student assistant for the collection.

About Edward Francis
Edward Francis was a scholarship student of Francoise Regnat at CSUN, earning both a Bachelor of Music and Master of Music degree in piano performance. He began teaching piano when he was 20 years old. His studio gradually increased in size and the students flourished under his expertise. Edward joined the piano faculty at CSUN in 2010 and taught there until his untimely death. Edward’s students were his pride and joy, and they have achieved great success in the music world. They have placed in local, state, national, and international piano competitions, begun studios of their own, and enjoyed successful careers in and out of music. Edward has also been recognized with achievement awards locally (Encore Award for Excellence in the Arts), state-wide (California Association of Professional Music Teachers, Lifetime Achievement Award ) and nationally, (Department of Education Presidential Scholar in the Arts Teacher Award and MTNA National Teacher of the Year). Edward's contributions to the CSUN piano students and faculty are greatly appreciated and will continue to benefit future generations.
