Bump, Set, Travel: Help Send the Matadors to the Dominican Republic

Under second-year head coach Aquiles Montoya, the CSUN Women’s Volleyball team reached double figures in wins (10) for the first time since 2014 and posted its best Big West record in 11 seasons. Building on that momentum, the Matadors are setting their sights beyond the Big West — to the world stage.

This summer, the team is planning an international competition and cultural tour to the Dominican Republic, where they will face elite local teams, participate in community service projects, and immerse themselves in the country’s rich volleyball culture.

Why This Trip Matters

The Dominican Republic is known worldwide for its passion and excellence in volleyball — many of the sport’s top international players hail from there. Competing abroad will give our student-athletes the opportunity to:

  • Test their skills against international competition
  • Build global relationships and cross-cultural understanding
  • Grow together as a team through shared, once-in-a-lifetime experiences
  • Represent CSUN and the Big West Conference on an international stage

These experiences extend far beyond volleyball. They strengthen leadership, teamwork, and cultural awareness — key elements of the holistic student-athlete experience we strive to provide at CSUN.

Our Goal

To make this dream a reality, we need to raise $75,000 by April 2025. This total will cover airfare, lodging, meals, transportation, tournament fees, and travel insurance for the team. Every dollar raised brings us closer to giving our student-athletes a transformative international experience that will shape their lives long after they leave the court.
