Our Crowdfunding Groups
The CSUN Ice Hockey Club was founded in 1971 and is the longest running Sport Club at CSUN. The team has had tremendous success over the last ten years, but with that success, comes additional costs. The Ice Hockey club's players pay $3,000 in dues annually to be on the team and the club has an operating budget of $110,000. Players often work 20-30 hours a week to pay for school and hockey.
WE NEED YOUR HELP!
CSUN has won the West Coast Hockey Conference Championships the last three years - 2017, 2018, 2019 and is currently in first place for the conference with a 15-0-1-2 record. The WCHC champions attend the ACHA West Regional Tournament each spring. This year's regional tournament is in Boise, ID. If the team stays ranked in the top 12 or wins the WCHC title in 2020, they will have less than three weeks to get to Boise for the tournament. Additional practice ice, airline tickets, transportation and hotels for the event will cost in excess of $12,000.
If we do not make the regional tournament, your donation will go towards an endowment fund, so future teams will have assistance with post season travel and operating expenses.
Hockey players are hungry students. Breakfast, lunch and dinner on the road adds up. With this gift, you could help a player eat for a day!
One hotel room for one night, with four players to a room will cost $100. The team will need 8 rooms a night, for at least 3 nights - $2,400 total.
Airline tickets on three weeks notice will be very expensive for 22 players and 3 staff members - $6,250 in total.
Ice is expensive in California - one practice slot costs $300. The team will need at least 10 practices before Regionals - $3,000 total.
A bus for the four days and three nights will cost $2,500.
