Halimeh Pazeky passed away in her sleep on January 13th. She is survived by her mother, Maureen; her sisters, Mehri and Suesan; and 5 nieces and 2 nephews. Halimeh Michelle was born in Sacramento, CA. In Halimeh's childhood, she excelled at Math and was a good student. In high school, Halimeh shone on the school's track and field team as a shot putter. After graduating high school, Halimeh entered college with a chemistry degree in mind. All that changed however after she opted to take an ASL class. Ultimately, Halimeh earned an undergraduate degree at CSUN and then pursued a graduate degree at Gallaudet University in Washington DC. There, she became immersed in deaf culture and knew she had found her place. Upon returning to the West Coast, Halimeh joined the CSUN team and was proud to be part of the NCOD. During those years, her family heard stories of how her work wasn't just a job, but instead actions that supported a greater cause within her community. In her free time, Halimeh loved to crochet, was an avid movie watcher, and loved to open water swim.
Halimeh was be dearly missed by her friends, family, and community. Due to the COVID pandemic, there will be no immediate service. Instead, the family will be hosting a Celebration of Life ceremony when conditions are safe enough to support a group gathering. Interpreters will be provided.
