HERO FOR HIRE
is an comic book inspired, action packed, stop motion short that comments on issues of class and race. We follow Luke Cage, hero for hire and budding local celebrity, as he confronts not one but TWO deadly foes terrorizing his neighborhood of Harlem, NY. However, we find out that some one even more dangerous is pulling all the strings.
Ingenuity in the face of COVID
As a TV Production major, stop motion was definitely not my first choice for a thesis project. However, due to my wife's ongoing recovery from a bone marrow transplant in her battle against Hodgkin's Lymphoma, she is high risk for illness. There was no way I would gamble with her life by filming a group project as the COVID-19 pandemic continues to take the lives of our family, friends and neighbors. Fortunately, with the support of the CSUN faculty, I was able to find a way to continue to continue to create and use all the skills gained from the CTVA department, albeit on a 1/12 scale.
Where your money goes
This 1/12 scale production requires similar funding to any regular size production. Your donations will go to things such as equipment rentals, voice actors, studio time, music, set building, props, and more. Your donations will also be supporting BIPOC actors and small business. I pledge to have at least a 75% BIPOC cast and prioritize the use of BIPOC small businesses wherever possible.
Your donation is tax deductible!
100% Tax Deducible, in fact! CSUN is a 501(c)(3) Charitable Organization, which means any donations received through the foundation can be claimed on your taxes. If you donate online you will receive an email back with the required tax info almost immediately. If you prefer to use a check, please make it out to "CSUN Foundation" and mail check to:

If you're still reading...
then either you are ready to donate (thank you so much!), or, you are really interested but maybe don't have the means to help financially. If it's the latter, please don't be discouraged. I appreciate any support you can give. Tell your friends, spread on social media, even just sending words of encouragement means a lot. Thank you for your consideration and don't forget to tip your waiters and waitresses.
Very Respectfully,
