ASCE Timber-Strong Design Build Competition

ABOUT THE PROJECT

The 2024 Timber-Strong Design BuildSM (TSDB) Competition enables students to gain experience in performing crucial aspects of common structural engineering design and practice. Participating students will learn about the processes involved in professionally designing and proposing a project bid, which must be unique. Students will also gain exposure to the management and building practices used in construction environments. Students will then compete at the Pacific Southwest Symposium that will be Hosted at University of Hawaii, Manoa.

WHAT IS PSWS

The ASCE 2024 Pacific Southwest Student Symposium will be held on April 3-6, 2023 at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa.

The Pacific Southwest Student Symposium will offer a rare opportunity for civil engineering students to meet in an environment promoting friendly competition and hands-on learning.

This competition will allow for students to test the different disciplines in civil engineering by working on different projects throughout the year. These projects will then be displayed to the public and graded on efficiency and design.

WHY DONATE

All donations will be used to cover the cost of the building. This includes lumber, fasteners and tools needed to construct the house. We will also be using the money to provide proper safety equipment for our team. This includes hard hats, gloves, safety glasses, and safety vests. Overall, our main goal is to practice proper safety while being able to construct our competition building.
