Coming off a 2023-24 season of unprecedented success, the CSUN Track & Field and Cross-Country programs have announced the RACE to $100K campaign.
In addition to sending three student-athletes to the Olympic Trials in Oregon in June, CSUN was represented at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in four total events – the most in 16 seasons – and in one event at the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships. Junior thrower Trey Knight earned All-America First Team honors in both the outdoor and the indoor seasons while he was the national runner-up in the weight throw. CSUN's 4x100 relay team also claimed All-America Second Team honors at the NCAA Outdoor Championships. In total, CSUN produced nine conference championship victories and broke nine school records in 2024.
An incredible donor, Adrienne Denny, has kick-started our race to raise $100,000 for our Track & Field and Cross-Country programs with an amazing $50,000 gift! Her generosity has us halfway to our goal, and now we need your help matching her gift.
"When Coach Johnson mentioned that he had student-athletes who wanted to join the Matador track and field program but needed financial aid to make it happen. I thought long and hard about helping out," said Denny. "The dedicated student-athletes of CSUN need our help and support, that's why I decided to donate. I was taught to give back and help out however and whenever possible - especially when it came to causes I believe in."
These teams are driven, determined, and competitive. They continue to thrive in the Big West and beyond. However, getting these teams to the next level will take more than grit and perseverance—our student-athletes need facility improvements and scholarships.
"We are so grateful to Adrienne for her support and are excited for this opportunity," said head coach Justin Johnson. "Meeting this goal will really help with the elevation of our Track & Field and Cross-Country programs."
