This story follows Lusine, who receives a call from her estranged father as he is dying of liver cirrhosis on New Year's Eve. In his last moment of sobriety and clarity, he tenderly reaches out, but she declines to speak to him. Over the course of the evening, she reflects on her painful experiences with his alcohol addiction, and ultimately rushes to his side, but he tragically passes away before she arrives.
This film is a story based on true events. Through Her Eyes is a tribute to the director Celine Tchaparian’s late father, who unfortunately passed away 3 years ago. Growing up, she had to watch her father lose himself to alcohol. Losing a father to alcohol abuse is more common than a person might consider. Through Her Eyes touches on the topic of Alcohol Substance Abuse which isn’t talked about especially in a traditional Armenian culture. Celine has Armenian roots herself, and she strives to weave her Armenian influences in this heartfelt story. We rarely see any Armenian actors in big theatrical films, let alone any Armenian characters. By utilizing Armenian actors and characters, Celine hopes to introduce new audiences to Armenian culture through her film. With this film, we want to send a message of hope to everyone who dealt with love and devastation simultaneously.
I am immensely grateful to be able to tell a story so close to my heart through the lens of my Armenian background. Through Her Eyes is for every person that had to replace their childhood with memories they did not deserve. I hope this film spreads awareness about this issue in order to mend relationships between generations broken by alcohol abuse.
Our cast and crew aims to create an authentic film depicting the Armenian culture in America but we can't do it without your help! These contributions will allow the cast and crew to expand creative decisions for the delivery of a powerful story.
