Handyman (2025)

Handyman is a CSUN CTVA346 episodic series that follows a freelance handyman as he encounters bizarre clients, rival handymen, a deadbeat brother-in-law, and an imminent divorce.

Our series will be four episodes, each with Hank the handyman in a new residence.

Where is our money going?? - Our fundraiser is based on benchmarks!

If we raise $2,000, we will direct that money toward wardrobe, props, make up, and food for the cast and crew!

If we raise $4,000, we will direct two thousand toward paying for quality locations!

If we raise $6,000, we will direct the remaining two thousand toward hiring quality actors and comedians!

If we surpass $6,000, we will use our additional resources to submit to film festivals and offer screenings to our supporters!

A message from the series creator:

Handyman comes from a personal attachment towards building and a lifelong understanding of blue collar hardship. My late grandfather owned a hardware store when my mother was a child. He always taught his family the value of building things whether it be something tangible or intangible. But most of all he fought for the importance of fixing things when they’re broken. Every plumber, electrician, and handyman you’ve met have their own unique stories and challenges that make them human. This show hopes to give a glimpse into the weirdness some handymen encounter.

Contributions made here to Handyman are 100% tax deductible. The California State University, Northridge Foundation is a nonprofit, 501(c)(3) public benefit California corporation.

Meet our amazing crew below:

Tom Hommel - Showrunner and Director of 101

My name is Tom Hommel and I’m the Showrunner and Creator of Handyman at CSUN. My unwavering passion for television came from a childhood obsession of sitcoms and my teen years being molded by streaming. When I was growing up in Burbank, I used to attend Lowe’s “Build and Grow” workshops and ever since then, I’ve felt an attachment to building. Whether it be IKEA shelves or developing a TV show, I love to create. My previous producing experience includes True Crime, The Last Voicemail, and Shotgun at CSUN. As the head writer and director of the Handyman pilot, I plan to set the foundation for a charismatic series about growth under pressure. I’ve assembled an amazing crew and I’m eager to get to work with them.

Fallon Millsap - Producer and Director of Episode 3

Fallon Millsap is the producer, Director of episode 103 and Assistant director for Episodes 102 and 104 on the Web series Handyman. She is currently enrolled at California State University Northridge as a Narrative Television Production major with a focus in producing. Her entertainment career started in high school at Rancho Bernardo High School in San Diego county. There she produced and hosted the Award winning Bronco TV and produced BTS for The short film The Sidekick which was a Semi Finalists at the All American High School Film festival. Works in college include True Crime where she worked as the 1st AD, over 18 multi camera sketches, and a Short Film titled New Vibrations that is set to release in December of 2025. Fallon’s career aspirations are to work in Multi Camera Television as a Director or as an Assistant Director for Single camera productions.

Duc Le - Co-Writer/Director of Episode 2 and Series Editor

My name is Duc Le, and I am a Television Production student specializing in editing at California State University Northridge. Born in Vietnam, I moved to the U.S. at a young age and initially discovered my passion for storytelling through acting. However, overtime, I realized that my true strength lay not in performing but in shaping narratives behind the scenes.

Editing became my creative outlet, allowing me to craft stories not just through cuts but also sound and color. Through past projects, I have gained valuable experience in workflow and post-production techniques, and I am eager to deepen my knowledge of sound design and color grading to enhance stories even further

As an editor and colorist for Handyman, I am excited to bring this story to life and create a visually and emotionally compelling experience for the audience.

Rene Liera - 1st AD on Episode 1/3, Director of Episode 4, and Casting Director

Enjoyer of seafood boils, ice-cold lemonade, and all things ridiculous, writer/director Rene Liera takes to the directors chair for Handyman’s conclusive 4th episode. He’s also the series’ casting director and excited to assemble a cast of larger-than-life characters to hopefully portray even a fraction of what the average blue-collar workday is like. You know, with all the harassment, curses, and divorce.

Andrea Tosounian - Director of Photography

My name is Andrea Tosounian and I am a television production student here at CSUN, with an emphasis in Cinematography. I was born and raised in Los Angeles, the perfect place to be having a life-long aspiration to work in TV/Film. I grew up with a love for acting and directing, and more recently have delved into the wonderful world of cinematography. I have learned so much about the craft, having it as my skill emphasis, and have come to love it more than I would have expected years ago. I will be the Director of Photography on Handyman, meaning I will be planning and capturing the visuals that you see on the screen. I'm elated to be able to bring the visual world of this project to life and looking forward to working with such a passionate and determined crew!

Micha Adams - First AC

My name is Micha I'm a CTVA student with an emphasis in cinematography. I was a photographer for some time before deciding to get a degree in film. I have a passion for lighting and bringing stories to life. I am a director on the episodic "Third Best" and first AC on "Handyman".

Theo’s first short film, Wholeheartedly, earned him Best Indie Filmmaker at TopShorts and Best Drama Short at Hollywood’s Just4Shorts. He also earned multiple honorable mentions at the Los Angeles Film Awards and Independent Shorts Awards. It was also an official selection of the San Francisco Short Film Festival presented by SF IndieFest, the Studio City International Film and TV Festival, and the Hollywood Silver Screen Festival. Theo got his start in entertainment as a sound designer and editor, working on projects such as Lionsgate’s crime thriller Bent, directed by Oscar-winning director/producer Bobby Moresco and starring Karl Urban, Sofia Vergara, and Andy Garcia, as well as the Lionsgate thriller Black. Butterfly starring Antonio Banderas, Jonathan Rhys Meyers, and Piper Perabo. He also sound-designed Aaron Woodley’s animated feature, Arctic Dogs, starring the voices of Jeremy Renner, Heidi Klum, James Franco, John Cleese, and Omar Sy.

Jeremy Washington - Sound Recorder

I'm a content creator with a deep passion for film and TV, and I'm all about building and supporting communities across the globe. I truly believe that content has the power to bring people together, spark conversation, and inspire change. For me, film and TV are more than just entertainment—they're a way to share powerful stories with the world, stories that can resonate on a personal level or challenge perspectives on a larger scale.

In this project, my role is all about sound. Sound design is a huge part of how a story is told and experienced, and I'm excited to be behind the scenes, crafting the auditory world that will bring the visuals to life. Whether it's creating an immersive atmosphere or ensuring every moment feels authentic, I love how sound can elevate a scene, often in ways that aren't immediately noticeable but are always felt.

Being a part of this project is an opportunity to connect with others, whether it's through the content we create or through the communities we support. It's about fostering a shared experience, where the storytelling can inspire, entertain, and resonate across different cultures and perspectives. I’m proud to play my part in shaping that experience.

Andy Gonzalez - Script Supervisor and Editor

My name is Andrew Gonzalez and I am a television production student here at CSUN, emphasizing in Video Editing. I was born and raised in the LA Valley and was always interested in the film industry for the longest time. I used to want to be a director until I started editing more and more, soon making it my job! I've enjoyed video editing so much and it has become one of the things I'm most passionate about. I will be one of the Editors on Handyman, I will be responsible for editing and bringing all the pieces together with my own flare for episodes 1 and 2! I'm excited to bring these episodes to life with my own personal style and help bring see the creator's visions through as well as working with an amazing crew that I've enjoyed working with before!
