Folklor de México is Ballet Folklórico Aztlán de CSUN’s annual music and dance concert, showcasing traditional dances from various regions of Mexico. The event also features guest folklórico and musical groups, aiming to educate the CSUN community and surrounding areas about the vibrant cultural heritage of Mexico and Los Angeles through the art of Mexican/Chicano/a folkloric dance. The concert provides members with a platform to present what they have learned and dedicated themselves to throughout the academic year.
Additionally, during the event, BFA de CSUN’s Scholarship Committee takes the stage to recognize and congratulate scholarship recipients. The scholarship application is open to graduating seniors from local high schools, CSUN graduating students, and junior college students transferring to a four-year university.
This year’s Folklor de México will be held at the Plaza del Sol Theatre at CSUN and will feature four additional musical and dance groups. With approximately 480 seats, the theatre has historically been a sold-out venue for this event. The show will run for two hours, including a 20-minute intermission.
