Matador Motorsports

We are Matador Motorsports, CSUN’s Formula SAE team. We design, build, and race a single-seater, formula-style race car against 100+ universities from around the world, a tradition we’ve carried on since 1988. Formula SAE is more than a competition: it is a launchpad that prepares students to become the next generation of engineers, innovators, and leaders.

At CSUN, Formula SAE serves as the capstone project for Mechanical Engineering majors. Our team functions like a real engineering company: students take on roles in design, fabrication, testing, data analysis, business management, and racing operations. Through this in-depth program, we develop the technical expertise, creativity, and problem-solving skills that can only come from hands-on experience.
