CSUN FASA; 41st Pilipino Cultural Night
CSUN Filipino American Student Association: 41st Pilipino Cultural Night
WHO IS CSUN FASA?
The Filipino-American Student Association provides activities that promote closer unity among Filipino-Americans and involves Filipino-Americans in the propagation and maintenance of the Filipino cultural and historical heritage. FASA was chartered in 1982 and is the oldest active API group on campus. The faculty advisor is Professor Allan Aquino. CSUN FASA is built upon the pillars of C.L.A.S.S! This is the foundation of what CSUN FASA aims to promote within the club. C for Culture, L for Leadership, A for Academics, S for Social and S for Sports!
WHAT IS PCN?
PCN stands for Pilipino Cultural Night, our annual performance that includes an original script, cultural dances, modern dances, live dayaw and rondalla music. CSUN FASA is officially hosting our 40th Annual Pilipino Cultural Night on April 20th, 2025. Join us in another evening of immersive Philippine culture.
THE STORYLINE.
This marks the 41st year of CSUN FASA holding a PCN production! As the club turns into a new decade to celebrate, the show touches upon themes of remembering the past and present. The official title of the show is: Sino Ka Ba?
Sino Ka Ba? translates to “Who are you?” in English. The show follows Sam Flores, a sheltered kid who is entering the last year of high school, looking to move onto big changes in her life. She lives with her Aunt Rose, who raised her since she was a little kid, after Sam’s parents were killed in an accident.
Follow Sam as she navigates her new high school experience, after being home schooled by her Aunt Rose
YOUR DONATION
Our cast and crew aims to produce the most authentic and culturally accurate portrayal of the Philippine culture and we need your help!
All monetary contributions will be used for the following:
- Venue: It is tradition to use CSUN's very own Performing Arts Center in the Plaza del Sol. With show day and tech days, this costs us an approximate $19,000 alone.
- Costume & Props: Every article of clothing and prop seen on stage is hand created by our very own pug pound and costume committee.
- Dayaw & Rondalla: These music groups provide authentic live instrumentals to accompany our cultural dances. It is CSUN FASA tradition to work with these music groups to provide the most authentic sound possible for our show.
- Programs: For the day of show, we provide physical programs to provide information and show off every cast & team member, give background on our script and dances, provide ad space to local businesses and much more!
- Misc.: There are hundreds of aspects that go in and out of this show! So this includes any other additional costs that may occur like filming/picture materials, food and water for the crew, merch and more!
