CSUN Human Power Vehicle Design Project

The CSUN Matador Human Powered Vehicle team is a mechanical engineering senior design project at California State University, Northridge. Our team is dedicated to designing, manufacturing, and testing an innovative human powered vehicle that promotes sustainable transportation, engineering creativity, and hands-on student learning.

This year, CSUN engineering students are developing a semi-electric recumbent trike to compete in the annual ASME e-Human Powered Vehicle Competition. Over the course of eight months, our team will take the vehicle from concept to final build, applying engineering principles in areas such as frame design, drivetrain systems, aerodynamics, electronics, manufacturing, and testing.

Donations directly support the success of this project by helping us purchase essential materials, components, tools, and manufacturing resources needed to build a competitive vehicle. Contributions may go toward items such as tubing and raw materials, drivetrain components, wheels and tires, electrical systems, fairing materials, safety equipment, testing supplies, and competition-related expenses, including travel costs required to transport the team and vehicle to the competition.

Your support allows students to gain real-world engineering experience beyond the classroom while representing CSUN at a national competition. Every donation helps us bring our design to life, improve the performance and safety of our vehicle, and continue building on the strong legacy of Matador PedalSports.
