CSUN Alumni Association scholarships are transformational

Every year, 15 students — many with financial need and all with stories of hope and determination — are awarded CSUN Alumni Association scholarships in three categories:

First Generation Students 

The first in their immediate family to attend a four-year college or university.

Legacy Students

The child or grandchild of CSUN/San Fernando Valley State College alumni.

Graduate Student

A student who has earned an undergraduate, graduate degree or teaching credential from CSUN and is enrolled at CSUN working toward a higher degree.

The impact of these scholarships is immeasurable 

A scholarship could allow a student to continue their dream, provide funding for basic needs (such as housing, food or transportation), give them the flexibility to seek opportunities that were previously unaffordable or simply give them the breathing room to focus on their studies.

Today’s CSUN student pays $3,486 per semester in tuition or approximately $7,000 per year. That amount does not include the cost of parking, books, transportation and housing. In the not-so-distant past, CSUN was fully financially supported by the state of California. The state has reduced funding considerably over the years to nearly 40%, leaving students and their families to cover the cost.

How can you make a difference? 

Join us in raising money for our students during the Give From Your Heart campaign.

Our mission is to raise enough money for the First Generation, Legacy and Graduate scholarships to become endowed, cementing the university’s ability to award these scholarships forever. 

To launch the campaign, alumni Cindy and Dan Chernow have donated $25,000. Let's join together and donate. With enough donations, we can match and hopefully surpass that number. Any donation helps us as we strive to reach this goal by March 27.
