The Deaf CSUNians club would like to thank you for your support last year toward the 2020 JASK Week event. In an abundance of caution, CSUN has postponed or reimagined certain in-person campus events, including JASK Week, as part of the university's ongoing COVID-19/Coronavirus response strategy. 

Because JASK Week was canceled in 2020, your contribution will be utilized to further the activities of the CSUN students engaged with Deaf CSUNians. As of February 8, 2021, we are planning a virtual JASK week and we are very fortunate to get volunteers for the event. Due to this, your donation to our fundraiser will go toward Deaf CSUNians' upcoming needs and plans for future events, when we are permitted to safely return to campus - including JASK week in 2022. THANK YOU for all of your donations! We are at 1,215$ with 10 days left! I am happy with our progress. The fact that there are 10 days left means that JASK week is approaching. I am so excited about that!

In addition to the 5 guest speakers, we are able to work with a movie theater 5 minutes away from our campus to play The Quiet Place 2 with open captions. It is a horror movie which includes a 16 year old deaf actress as one of the main characters. She uses sign language in this movie. The movie will be opened captioned, which means that we do not have to get additional devices to watch the movie because the captions will already be on the screen. This allows equal access to all including the deaf and Hard-of-hearing.

The funds received from this fundraiser will be used to contribute to Jask week. For those who do not know, Jask week is a week long event about deaf awareness at CSUN. It will be free to the public!
